Two live-action projects are officially in development at Paramount: a new mainline Transformers movie with a writer attached, and the long-teased Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover. What is confirmed
At CinemaCon in April 2026, Paramount executives Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein confirmed on stage that a new Transformers movie is in the works, alongside a new G.I. Joe movie (The Direct's CinemaCon coverage, Tformers).
In June 2026, Paramount hired Jason Fuchs, co-creator and showrunner of It: Welcome to Derry, to write the script for the next Transformers movie (TheWrap, exclusive). The producing team carries over the franchise's core names: Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy, with Steven Spielberg and Hasbro executive producing (ScreenRant).
The Fuchs project is reported to continue the storyline of 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the most recent live-action entry (MovieWeb).
The crossover
A Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover movie has been in development since 2023. The tease was right there on screen: Rise of the Beasts ends with Noah Diaz being recruited into G.I. Joe, a scene built specifically to set the two Hasbro franchises on a collision course (ScreenRant's crossover tracker).
Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. has said the crossover is still in development, while cautioning that it will not necessarily be the very next film in the franchise (ScreenRant). With Paramount confirming separate Transformers and G.I. Joe films at CinemaCon 2026, the crossover now sits alongside two solo projects rather than replacing them.

Jason Fuchs is writing the untitled mainline Transformers movie. His credits include Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pan and Argylle, and he is a co-creator of HBO's It: Welcome to Derry (TheWrap).
Derek Connolly, the Jurassic World and Detective Pikachu co-writer, was hired in June 2024 to write the Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover (The Hollywood Reporter). THR's report also said the crossover project was set up with Chris Hemsworth attached to star; treat casting as unconfirmed until Paramount says so.
The timeline since Rise of the Beasts
June 2023. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts closes with Noah Diaz recruited by G.I. Joe, the franchise's first on-screen bridge between the two properties.
June 2024. Derek Connolly signs to write the crossover script (THR).
September 2024. Transformers One, the animated Cybertron origin story, reaches theaters as the franchise's only release between live-action entries.

What is NOT confirmed
No release date has been announced for either project. Any specific year you see attached to "Transformers 8" is speculation, not Paramount (ScreenRant's franchise tracker).
Also unconfirmed: the title, the director, the cast, whether the crossover or the solo film shoots first, and any plot detail beyond "continues the Rise of the Beasts storyline."
A warning about "trailers." The viral "Transformers 2025," "2026" and "2027" trailers circulating on YouTube and social media are AI-generated fan videos, not official footage. Several of the channels mass-producing these fake trailers, including Screen Culture and KH Studio, were terminated by YouTube for exactly this (Deadline; ComingSoon's debunk).
