Waiting is usually the right move on a thousand-dollar robot. The announcement lands, the pre-order opens, and a year later the thing is discounted. Megatron has not played along.
Robosen’s Flagship Megatron reads In stock on Robosen’s own store this afternoon at $1,499.00, read in US dollars rather than in the Canadian conversion the site hands a browser on this side of the border [1]. The store quotes 3 to 7 business days on delivery. Entertainment Earth opened a pre-order for the same robot on 27 October, also at $1,499.00, with a live cart control and an estimated arrival of December 2026 [2]. TFormers filed that listing on Thursday and called it a reissue, saying Megatron is out for another run.
The cheaper listing is the one that has gone. BigBadToyStore carries the same Flagship Megatron at $1,199.99, and both of its grades, Mint and Substandard, read SOLD OUT with a wishlist button where the cart used to be [3].
So the week’s news is a pre-order for December, but the robot is on a shelf right now at the company that builds it, for the same money. The coverage points the other way. In September we wrote up the Elite Optimus Prime trailer kit when BigBadToyStore had it at $1,199.99 and Robosen had it at $1,199.00; the retailer undercut the maker, and the maker allowed it. On Megatron the retailer that undercut has run dry, and what is left is list price in two places with six weeks between them.
What $1,499.00 buys has not changed since the figure first shipped. He is 20.6 inches tall in robot mode, and he converts himself into the tank above on a voice command or through the app, the work done by 36 servo motors and 118 microchips. Frank Welker, who voiced Megatron in the 1984 cartoon, recorded over 270 lines for him, and the robot answers to more than 50 voice commands! It is still the most absurd object in this hobby. Robosen’s own spec sheet puts the net weight at 8.4 pounds and the LED count at 112, and Entertainment Earth’s copy lists the Energon sword, the mace, four cannon missiles and an Optimus Prime target in the box [4].
Whether a second run is really coming is Robosen’s business, and it has said nothing public about one. What can be checked is this: the December date is a retailer’s estimate rather than a factory’s, the maker is shipping now, and the cheapest listing anybody had on this robot is closed. Our write-up of this month’s Age of the Primes three-pack made the same point about a far cheaper box. The shelf and the pre-order are asking the same money here, and only one of them ships in days.
[1] Read on 30 October 2026 at Robosen’s US store. The store geolocates and shows a Canadian conversion by default: on a Toronto connection the robot reads $2,203.53. The figure above is the store’s own US dollar price, taken from its product data rather than from the converted display. A Halloween promotion was running at the time of reading, advertised as savings applied at checkout, so the shelf price is what we can report and the checkout price may be lower.
[2] Entertainment Earth item number RRBWZTG1, listed under a “New Pre-Orders Oct 27” header, with free USA shipping and the line “Estimated to Arrive in DECEMBER 2026” under its own stock-status note that the date is subject to change and that nothing is charged until the item ships.
[3] Read on 30 October 2026. A search for Robosen at BigBadToyStore returns 12 products with the applied-filters chip showing, 7 of them Transformers, and the Flagship Megatron is in that set at $1,199.99 with both grades sold out. The Flagship Soundwave and the G1 Bumblebee are in stock in the same result set at $1,399.99 and $1,299.99, so this is a genuine sold-out on one product rather than a dropped query.
[4] BigBadToyStore’s product copy ends its feature list with the line “Optimus Prime Robot not included.” Entertainment Earth’s contents list does include an Optimus Prime target, so the two sit together without contradicting each other.
