Threezero MDLX Optimus Prime: a hands-on review after thirty days

Premium die-cast, premium price. We lived with it for a month to find out whether it earns the shelf space next to Masterpiece.

The MDLX line sits in an awkward, wonderful niche: smaller than Masterpiece, pricier per inch, and finished like a designer collectible rather than a toy. After thirty days with Threezero MDLX Optimus Prime on the desk, the verdict is that the finish justifies the format.

The die-cast heft is immediately obvious, the paint applications are clean under a loupe, and the proportions split the difference between the G1 cartoon and a stylised modern read. Transformation is fiddlier than a comparable Masterpiece and the trailer is sold separately, which stings at this price.

If you want one definitive Prime and you value shelf presence over play value, MDLX earns its spot. If you want the complete package with a trailer and Roller, MP-44 is still the smarter buy.
