A pre-order is a promise about a date, and on these two the shops and the manufacturer are not promising the same one.

Hasbro opened two of them this morning, and both are live at BigBadToyStore, at Entertainment Earth and on Hasbro’s own Pulse store. The War for Cybertron: Siege Commander Class Jetfire reissue is $99.99. The other is Studio Series Leader Class Dinobot Sludge, at $59.99. Entertainment Earth filed the pair together under New Pre-Orders dated 3 November, as item numbers HSE4824 and HSF3203 [1]. Both BigBadToyStore listings carry a live Add to Cart control rather than the waitlist button that sits there when something has gone, and both say the same thing about arrival: estimated to arrive January 2027 [2].

Hasbro does not say January about either of them.

Pulse gives the Sludge a ship date of approximately February 1, 2027. For the Jetfire it says approximately March 1, 2027 [3]. Both of those dates sit on Hasbro’s own product pages, and they put the Jetfire in March rather than January. ToyHype USA, which flagged the drop this morning, carries the January date [7].

A pre-order is mostly a date, because the price and the contents are settled before the listing goes up. No money is taken at BigBadToyStore until the figure is ready to send, and Pulse works the same way, so an order placed this afternoon holds a unit at a stated price with an estimated month attached to it [4]. Retailer estimates and factory dates disagree often enough that neither of these is a promise. But one of them comes from the shop and the other comes from the company that makes the toy. Only the shop’s has been quoted so far.

BigBadToyStore labels the Jetfire a reissue, and not for the first time. The code on the listing, WFC-S28, is the one the figure wore when Siege was on shelves. Seibertron covered a Siege Jetfire reissue in October 2022 at $89.99, due that January [5]. But the price has gone up since, and today the same figure is $99.99.

What that buys has not changed much. Hasbro puts him at 11 inches in robot mode, converting to a G1-inspired Cybertronian jet in 36 steps, and packs in the Skyshield aerial armor and battle mask, two JF-25 Photon Missile sky launchers, two Jetboost particle beam cannons, a pair of Radiograph boosters and six fire blast effects that peg onto the gun barrels [3]. The jet mode will carry a Deluxe Class figure on its back. It is a good trick! BigBadToyStore’s own copy says approximately 12 inches where Hasbro says 11, and it adds that “Instructions may or may not include English translation” [6].

Sludge is the cheaper half and the simpler one. He stands 8.5 inches, converts between robot and brontosaurus in 31 steps, and comes with a blaster that pegs on in both modes and a removable backdrop that sets him in the Mockery of Justice scene, where, in Hasbro’s words, he “breaks down the courtroom door and crashes the Quintesson trial to rescue two Autobots” [3].

Studio Series 86-15 Dinobot Sludge in brontosaurus mode on a white background: a grey and silver mechanical sauropod with a gold head and open jaw, a red panel on its flank and a gold tail joint.

Studio Series 86 has been working through the Dinobots a figure at a time; in July we covered the battle-damaged Grimlock and Megatron pair shown at ACGHK. Last week the Generations pre-order was the Age of the Primes Autobot three-pack, which we found the same way we found these two, as a listing rather than an announcement.

Neither date here is a guarantee, and pre-order windows slip in both directions, sometimes by more than a quarter. But Pulse puts the Jetfire in March and the shops put it in January, and that gap is sitting in plain sight on two pages that are both Hasbro’s. Check both dates before you order.
