Swedish metal band MESHUGGAH is bringing an officially licensed Transformers collaboration to San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Drummer Tomas Haake and guitarist Marten Hagstrom will appear for a signing session at the Reigning Phoenix Music and Stern Pinball booth, number 4029, on Friday, July 24 at 3:30 pm, where a limited-edition MESHUGGAH x Transformers t-shirt will be unveiled as a Comic-Con exclusive.
The shirt pairs two anniversaries: 40 years of The Transformers: The Movie and 30 years of MESHUGGAH’s 1995 album Destroy Erase Improve. The artwork is by Ken Christiansen, the longtime Transformers and G.I. Joe artist whose Hasbro credits run from Generations toy packaging and Covenant of Primus lore art to Transformers video game concept work and IDW comic covers.

Christiansen’s three-panel design tracks the 1986 film’s most famous character arc: Megatron, destroyed in battle with Optimus Prime and betrayed by Starscream, is rebuilt by Unicron as Galvatron. The band says the mapping onto the album title Destroy Erase Improve is the whole point. “Big machinery. Massive destruction. Reconfiguration. A pretty accurate analogy to our sound, is it not?” says Hagstrom in the announcement.
Christiansen adds: “Two of my favorite things are Transformers and metal music, when the chance came up to combine the two, how could I pass that up? And to do it for a killer band like MESHUGGAH, can’t get much better.”
Alongside the shirt, Reigning Phoenix Music will stock Comic-Con exclusive splatter vinyl variants of the band’s remastered anniversary reissues of Destroy Erase Improve and Catch Thirtythree at the booth while supplies last.
The collaboration lands in a Comic-Con week already heavy on 40th anniversary material for the 1986 film. Hasbro Pulse’s own SDCC 2026 Transformers exclusives headline the official slate, and Hasbro’s Hong Kong Fans Expo is running battle damage Studio Series 86 Grimlock and Megatron exclusives with the same anniversary branding the same week. San Diego Comic-Con 2026 runs July 23 to 26, with preview night on July 22.
