A toy is normally announced, then listed, then found on a peg. Super7 has run that order backwards. A translucent purple Megatron turned up in a Target in Manteca, California at the end of August and a grey Optimus Prime turned up in another Target a few days later, both photographed by fans and written up by TFW2005, and when we went looking for either of them on Super7’s own store on 5 September there was nothing there. Target listed the pair on 8 September. Super7’s four product pages went up this morning, timestamped 10:18 and 10:19 Pacific in its own product feed, better than a week after the first figure was photographed on a hook.

Those pages settle the names, and the headline figure carries three of them. Super7’s product title is Dead Optimus Prime; the box front reads FALLEN OPTIMUS PRIME in the yellow band across the bottom; the copy on the page calls him Fallen Leader Optimus Prime. The other three are Reformatting Megatron in translucent purple, Metallic Megatron in silver, and a ReAction Unicron. All three DELUXE figures are eight inches, all three come in the plastic VHS clamshell with the smiley face sticker and the Transformers: The Movie logo, and all four carry Super7’s 40 Years 1986 to 2026 badge in the corner of the key art.

Last Friday the Target exclusivity was an inference drawn from where the figures had been found. It is now printed on Super7’s own art. Fallen Optimus Prime, Reformatting Megatron and the Unicron each carry a red Only At Target flash bottom left, Super7’s Unicron copy calls it a Target exclusive in as many words, and Metallic Megatron carries the Amazon wordmark with exclusive under it.

Metallic Megatron is the new one. It was not on the peg in Manteca and it is not in any of the coverage that followed, and Super7 has put it with a different retailer under a different wave number [1]. Its page describes the silver Megatron of the shuttle hijack rather than the battle damaged one, with a chest that opens to show the antimatter inside, and lists it at $30.00.

What you can buy this afternoon

Amazon has Metallic Megatron in stock at $25.00, five dollars under Super7’s own number, shipped and sold by Amazon rather than a marketplace seller, and the listing read only four left at four o’clock Eastern. Super7 will not sell you any of the four itself. All four of its own pages read Available From Our Retail Partners, with no add to cart button on any of them.

Target has the other three, all with live buttons. Fallen Optimus Prime and Reformatting Megatron are $29.99 each with shipping quoted for 16 September. Both were showing one or two left for pickup at the store the site geolocated us to, in Iowa, so run the store picker against your own postcode before you drive anywhere. The ReAction Unicron is $24.99 and ships free, in the movie colourway: yellow horns and yellow arms, a white and pale blue planet body, teal shins.

If none of that is worth a drive, the standard grey Deluxe Megatron in the VHS box is in stock at BigBadToyStore at $23.99 against a $39.99 list. It is the same eight inch figure in the same clamshell without the exclusive flash on the front, and note which way that list price runs: the non exclusive one carries the higher number of the two. BBTS also still has its own 25th Anniversary Unicron in a yellow colourway at $13.50 against $29.99. A lot of planet eater for the money!

The blind boxes are fifteen dollars and Super7 has them

Super7 listed ReAction Blind Box Wave 06 three days ago and those are still orderable direct at $15 a box. Its own copy puts battle damaged Optimus and Megatron at three in twelve each, metallic Hot Rod and Galvatron at two in twelve each, and two figures it does not name at one in twelve, and gives the scale as 3.75 inches with five points of articulation. Same film, same anniversary, and the only one of today’s shelf that Super7 will sell you direct.

All of it hangs on The Transformers: The Movie turning forty this year, which has already produced a 4K steelbook and, on a Target shelf last week, a branded tumbler and a snuggle throw. Optimus on the table and Megatron thrown into deep space are now both on a Target peg at $29.99.

The image files on the Metallic Megatron page are all named W2, so either the wave number moved late or the photography did not. Probably nothing, but worth knowing if you are cataloguing these.
