The sighting post and the retailer listing tell different stories about the same figure. TFW2005 filed the Shattered Glass Starscream reissue this afternoon on the strength of a sighting at a GameStop in Chambersburg, credited to one of its own moderators, and signed off with “Happy hunting!” But the hunting is optional on this one. BigBadToyStore has the figure in stock this evening at $42.99, with an add to cart button rather than a waitlist.

Hasbro put the reissue out on 25 August, at $42.99, through the fan channel rather than through its own Pulse store, and said it would ship in October. The stock has landed, inside the window Hasbro gave. TFW2005 described it at the time as “a new reissue for a hard to get item”, and the hard-to-get part was never the price: the first release was a Hasbro Pulse exclusive.

Hasbro’s own contents art and the BigBadToyStore listing agree on what comes in the box: the Voyager Class figure, two Energon swords that join into a single weapon, and two blasters [1]. There is no comic in there. The TFormers write-up of the reissue still carries the original listing’s line about the third issue of IDW’s five-part Shattered Glass miniseries and its Pulse exclusive variant cover, but a buyer who is in it for the comic should read that line as a description of the Pulse box rather than this one.

TFW2005 raises the yellowing that dogged the first release and does not say whether it has been dealt with on the second. Nobody can answer that off a press render or a retailer listing. Starscream is mostly white plastic and a press render will not show a yellow cast; the answer arrives when buyers have had these out of the box and under daylight for a few months [2].

Two other Shattered Glass figures have gone on sale since August. Yolopark put its own Shattered Glass Optimus Prime on general sale this morning at $61.99 direct, and in August we covered the Kuro Kara Kuri Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus. Of the three, this Starscream is the one that can be on a shelf next week.

Whatever the plastic does in a year, the figure is orderable today at its own retail price.

[1] BigBadToyStore lists the box contents as the figure, two Energon swords and two blasters. Hasbro’s own contents art for F2911 shows those same four accessories laid out beside the packaged box, and nothing else.

[2] BigBadToyStore is also selling two graded tiers of the same figure, a Substandard Packaging listing at $40.84 and a Mint Pro at $47.99. Those are packaging grades. The figure inside is the same one.
